CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA: The Assembly agreed to
raise sufficient monies to cover whatever monetary pledges
their delegates may make in the continental Congress to meet in
NEW YORK, NEW YORK: The Committee of Correspondence
requested the counties to elect delegates to the Provincial
Congress to deliberate upon and “direct measures as may be
expendient for our common safety.” Isaac Sears, a radical
patriot, led a group of armed men to the Custom House and
secured the keys from the Collector; thus closing up the port.

CAMBRDGE, MASSACHUSETTS: Major Brown’s detachment
of 150 Connecticut troops were furnished with quarters per order
of the Committee of Safety . The Committee appealed to the

devastation are th ecertain consequences of delay. ...”
PORTSMOUTH, NEW HAMPSHIRE: Joshua Wentworth an-
nounced that he could not engage vessels to remove people
wishing to leave Boston for two reasons: sailors feared im-

HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT: The Legislature appointed a
committee to visit General Gage and asked Governor Trumbull
to write to him. He warned Gage that the Colony would fight and
defend its rights and liberties and assist its neighbors in case of
attack. He then asked, “Is there no alternative but absolute
submission or the desolations of war?” The Massachusetts
Provincial Congress would take offense at the Connecticut visit
aid letter to Gage when they were known.

Rock concert
draws 50,000
DALLAS (AP) - A free six- •
act rock concert drew an esti-
mated attendance of 50,000 to
the aprons in front of Dallas’
Cotton Bowl Sunday.
The large crowd was further
swelled by persons trying to get
to the midway amusements
area and people trying to audi-
tion for summer musicals at the
Dallas Music Hall.
The top attraction for the rock
concert was Blood, Sweat and
Tears.
DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas
City Council will consider a
proposal that would cut B mil
bon from a 523 million rate hike
sought in the city by South-
western Bell Telephone Co.
And, Bell officials in Fort
Worth say an audit just com-
pleted bolsters their argument
for a rate hike in that city
The new Dallas plan, pre-
pared by Public Utilities Direc-
tor Tom Taylor's staff and sub-
mitted to the council by City
Manager Geroge Schrader,
would trim proposed revenues
from service connections and
business and residential month-
ly rates.
