someone splashing away in
the big fish pond.
His first thought? “Surely
it couldn’t be those crazy
kids,” he recalls thinking.
But a look out the window
confirmed the source of the
disturbance.
It was a couple of great big
dogs, splashing away to beat
sixty in the fish pond, having
a blast but playing havoc
with the fish and the water
lilies.
Somehow, Ratliff sounded
just a bit disappointed it had
turned out to be the dogs, not
his neighbors splashing
away in the fish pond. Or,
maybe we just listened that
way?
