On January 8, Mandi Stafford
met some people who would
change her life. In fact, these
people most likely helped to save
her life.
That was the night Stafford
was involved in a serious car
. wreck that prompted response
from Alvin EMS, the Alvin
Volunteer Fire Department and
Life Flight as well as Alvin
Police and the Brazoria County
Sheriffs Department
But on March 27. they met
again under better circumstances
when the EMTs who were on
duty that night threw a welcome
home party for Stafford.
Stafford and her family attended
the party held at the EMS
Building. She talked about what

Stafford was then transferred to
a regular pediatric wing. She
went to th Shriners hospital for
rehabilitation. She was released
from the hospital on March 3.
• In the next two weeks she will
be getting a prosthesis and she
will undergo therapy to learn how
to walk again. She also is
returning to class at Alvin High

Members of the Life Flight
crew who took Stafford to the
hospital were able to attend. They
landed the helicopter in the field
next to EMS
in the wreck she lost her right
foot just above the ankle, her left
heel was broken in seven places.
She also had glass removed from
above her eye and other injuries.
Stafford was amazed that in the

to be placed on 39 bridges in all
parts of Brazoria County. The
limits were determined by the 1992
bridge inspections performed by the
Texas Department of Transporta-
tion. in accordance with a federal
mandate of the National Bridge In-
spection Standards.
All of the bridges included in the
list are of timber construction,
ranging in size from two to eight
spans.

Political policy set
The Alvin Sun-Advertiser’s plans and policies for the upcoming
political campaigns have been set, which includes some free news
stones for all candidates.
Effective immediately and up until no later than two weeks before the
election, each candidate will be entitled to one free announcement on
page one of our Sunday edition.
Announcements and photos must be in our office by the Thursday
prior to the Sunday publication. included in the announcement should
be background data, such as education, civic functions, plus a brief
statement as to why the candidate is seeking the particular office.
No other free stories will be run, other than as we approach election
time, there will be rpund-up type stories about all the candidates,
polling ptaces, election judges and similar information.
We will be selling political advertising at regular rates, with no
increases planned during the upcoming campaigns, plus a political
directory to run on our classified pages in each issue. •
All material submitted by our candidates, including letters, will be
considered as political advertising.
