with identical 7-0 marks in
District 24-5A.
However, the Eagles already
hold the upper hand in overall
records at an impressive 22-1,
losing only to Mansfield two
weeks ago in the Fort Worth
Lions' Tournament.

that we capitalize on every
opportunity."

"The thing that impresses me
the most about them about is
that they're also hitting the
outside shot this year," Carlin
said. "They've been mostly an
inside team in the past. Their
defense is also going to be tough
to crack, because they're only
giving up 52.7 points a game in
district"
Alvin, who was idle on Friday,
is next at 13-7 after routing
Clements, 66-50, Tuesday.
The Eagles' leading scorers
Carlos Grace and Ansu Seasay
both average only 10.8 points a
game, but Willowridge presents a
constant dilemma for opponents
with a balanced scoring line with
seniors Louis Brown, Leland
Redmond and Schun Wells
scoring around the 8-9-point
mark as well.
In other words, the Eagles have
no one or two players, a team can

Jackets dust off Clements, await Willowridge showdown
Alvin takes 'care of business' with methodical 66-50 win

Race director and marathon board
president David Hannah predicts a
new enthusiasm for the Houston
tradition this year.
"We've always been a runners'
race, and an important civic event for
the city, with more than 5,000 peo-
ple from all parts of the world taking
part," Hannah said.
"This year, however, we have be-
gun a long-term program to improve
the quality of the event and its inter-
national standing."
In the past 21 years, more than
50,000 runners have challenged the
course, with many returning year af-
ter year.
The individuals are cheered on by
as many as 200,000 spectators,
making the marathon the city's
largest single-day sports draw.
Volunteers--more than 4,000 of
them last year— coordinate the entire
event.
The marathon committee plans to
You can turn on energy savings with these few easy steps to reduce
the amount of hot water you use:
• Keep your water heater set at 120 to 140 if you have a dishwasher,
check the manual to see if it recommends any water temperatures.
• Use less hot water Wash clothes m cold or warm water and use cold
water rinses A low-flow shower head will also reduce water use
Remember, too, that small leaks add up to big waste
• Use water heater insulation, especially on heaters that are located in
unconditioned areas of the house

Tenneco Marathon runs for 22nd year Sunday
While next Tuesday’s
showdown with No. 2 state-
ranked Willowridge possess first-
place implications, Alvin head
coach Rudy Carlin has made a
point about cautioning his team
not to take too seriously the
importance of the 5:30 p.m.
match-up at Wheeler Field
House.
"It's just one game in nine that
we have remaining on the
schedule," the four-year coach
said on Thursday. "Whatever
happens, the main thing I want is
for the guys to feel good about
themselves afterwards and not
like failures if we lose.”
Assuming the Eagles defeated
last-place Kempner on Friday,
both teams will enter the contest
