Fewer people died in traffic
accidents in Texas in 1993 than in
any year since 1965, according to
statistics compiled by the Texas
Department of Public Safety.
Last year, 3,037 persons died in
traffic mishaps on Texas streets and
roadways, a decrease of 0.7 per cent
from the 1992 statewide death toll
of 3,057. The decline was the
eighth in the last nine years.
"You have to go back 28 years,
to 1965 when 3,028 died in traffic
accidents, to find fewer fatalities
thah we had in 1993," said DPS

Great emotional support was
provided in this feminine contact. A
woman was never really alone.
Alas, the situation is very
different today. The extended family
has disappeared, depriving the wife
of that source of security and
fellowship. Her mother lives in
New Jersey and her sister is in,
Texas. Furthermore, American
families move every three or four
years, preventing any long-term
friendships from developing among
neighbors.
