Growing demand for natural gas requires a constant search for new
reserves to assure you a dependable supply in the years to come. Long before
drilling begins, a mass of geophysical nd geologicaldata must be,
assembled and studied to locate possible sources of gas or oil. It's a long
and costly process, but vital to finding reserves to meet ybur- future needs.
United Gas is taking an active part in this effort in order
to keep ahead of the natural gas requirements of the Gulf South.

Second to none in cooking time... the elec-
tric surface unit comes up to full heat in a
matter of seconds. Especially appealing to the i
discriminating cook, heat can be accurately and
efficiently applied... less water is needed.
This means flavor and valuable vitamins are
retained. .

.TEEN TOPIC -fromELHi
Lot’s has been happening since we’ve
last written, so we hardly know where to
a begin.
I • First of all, we won the 21AA District
Championship in baseball last Friday by
defeating Giddings, 2-1. We play Lockhart
I e next. The team who wins 2 out of 3 games
captures bi-district.
Last Tuesday, after 5 days of well-spirited
I campaigning, cheerleaders and student
* council officers were elected. Head cheer-
leader for 1957-58 will be Doris Ann Saf-
arik. Next in line are Florence Adkins,
e Jeanette Mogonye, Angelina Gonzales, and
Mary Lou Perez. Congratulations I
Next year’s Student Council President is
. Roy Johnson. Vice-president will, be Wel-
don Eklund and corresponding secretary
is Charles Stach. There will be a run-off
for recording secretary between Darryl
e Carlson and Judy Sanders. Johnny Muery
will be the treasurer,and parliamentarian
is Harry Lynn Krenek. There will also
be a run-off between Glenda Stone and
• Billy Martin for reporter.
Well, after lots of hard work on the May
Fete, "‘Nine Girls”, and the Alumni Ban-
e quet, the Seniors are on their way to Col-
orado. All the last minute arrangements
are being made for the 25 who plan to get
aboard that bus about 1:30a.m., May 25th!
• This Thursday and Friday are Senior
tests days, and this means the last tests
they’lL take in El-Hi—-maybe! All next
, week will be loaf week for the Seniors -
* but they’ll be far from loafing. While the
rest of the kids in school are finishing up
classes and taking their tests, which by
* the way exclude any exemptions, the Sen-
iorswill be rushing around with last min-
ute .money-making projects, a few more
parties, shopping,sending thank-you notes,
F practicing for this and that (commence-
ment), sewing, packing, and then trying to
get in a little sleep, too.
g We don’t know if all the Seniors realize
this wonderful part in our lives, but here
are two that do. Everyone’s been so help-
ful to the Seniors that you just want to cry!' -
C Oh,well--we can just say thanks anyway!
And, we really do mean it!
