DETROIT, March 17— An interna-
tional airplane race, making • 7,586-
mil* circuit of the United States,
Mexico and Canada, for $25,000 to
cash prizes is planned by F. R. Max-
well. president of a Maryaville, Mich.,
airplane engine company.
The general plans, announced here
today, list* New York City a* th*
starting point, July tl. The tenta-
tive itinerary calls for stops at At-
lanta, Houston, Mexico City, Dallas,
El Paso, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City,
Omaha, Chicago, Montreal to New
York.
The winners will be determined on
the basis of minimum elapsed time
between the control points. The first
place winner will receive $15,000;
37,000 for second and *3,000 for
third.
The race is open to licensed men
and women pilots of any nation.
There will be no night flying.

limits, according to an estimate

will be many more projects started

cations. An average of three peti-
tions a week are being approved by
the city commission. It is expected

Charles H. Brough, former gover-
nor of Arkansas, was principal speak-
er, and was extended felicitations of
the gathering following hie splendid

South and Her Part in Development
of the Now."
The banquet waa served by mem-
bers of 1* home demonstration clubs
in Dawson County. Food served was
wholly farm products grown in this
section. Th* annual report of th*
chamber was read during th* meet-

Toastmaster W. B. Collins, vice
president of the chamber, conducted
the introduction of visitors during
the first part of the banquet. R. R.
Townsend introduced the speaker of
th* evening who concluded the pro-
gram. Visitors from nearby cities
represented Lubbock, Big Spring,
Brownfield, Midland, Andrews, Sla-
ton, Tahoka and O'Donnell.
