that night it commenced again and by

2% inch rain - fell, and Monday
morning at 1! o'clock live inches fell.
This last rain fell in the short space of
an hour and a haif, and consequentiy
appeared much heavier than it really
was. For several minutes of this time
it fell literally in sheets and was Ut t le
short of a water spouts in some parts
of the county it was accompanied by
hail,’ doing considerable damage. All
lira lower parts of the town were dlood-
ed, the water reaching tile first floor of
some of the residence adjacent to the
line of the Pacilie railway, and causing
considerable damage to household
goods. The Paeste, a dry stream coure-
lug throngh, the tow n became a rag-
ing torrent in a few hours, the volume
of water being sufficient to float a
steamboat. Other streams inthecout-
ty were also on a “rampage." Three
"bents" of the railway bridge on the
Aransas near Skidmore were washed
away and the north bound train delay
ed several hours next day awaiting
temporary repairs. From reports sent
to the daily press it is learned that the
rain was a general one, extending from
Houston westward. The rain practi-
ally assures the corn crop of Boe coun-
ty, as it is far advanced to maturity,
and guarantees a good range and plen-
ty of water on the cattle ranches.
