Mrs. John Peterson hes return-
ed from Houston, where for the
past month she has been a pati-
ent at the Veterans Administra:
tion Hospital, receiving surgical
and medical treatment for serious
injuries received when she was
struck by a truck as she stepped
from a curb to the street at the
F. L. Amsler corner. While mill
very weak she is able to be up
and around the house, her physi-
cians have told her to do any-
thing she feels able to do, and
indications are that she may com
pletely recover, as she is now im-
proving satisfactorily.
Miss Jeanelle Kingsbery, who
is teaching at Sabine Pass and
Miss Betty Sue Kingsbury. who
has a position with the Pacifie
Finance Company at PortyArthur
are expected to spend Thanks-

win Kamas. Mr Kamas had tak-
en one yar of high school work
at the Bellville High School a-

new wells that came in recently—

near their house, drilled by the P

Huff have a new 85-foot well on
their home site, located on the
Richard Huff farm near Highway

house on the bank of the Colo-
rado River, near Winchester. They
are tearing the building down
and will use the lumber to build

An appeal by Rev. Charlie W.
Lamb for financial' aid toward
building churches and other mis-
sionary work in Korea found a
ready response from the Wom-
an's Society of Christian Service,
meeting in general session at the
Fellowship Hall.

Thanksgiving.

Mrs. Ervin Hold and a Veterans
Day prayer was given by Mrs.

On Sunday afternoon a miscel-
laneous shower compliments Miss
Patricia Ann Phillips, bride elect
of Joe E. Renn at the home of
Mrs. Otto Kolkhorst.
On arrival the honoree was
presented a corsage of yellow fea-
thered mums. The mothers of the
bride elect and groom-to-be were
also presented with corsages.
The honoree’s chosen colors of
yellow and shrimp were used
throughout the reception rooms.
The dining table which was cov-
ered with a yellow doth held the.
attractively displayed gifts. A-
bout 45 quests were present for
the occasion. Bingo,provided en-
tertainment and ead winner pre
sented the prize to the briae-elect.
A refreshment plate of dainty
sandwiches, potato chips, olives,
pinkies. mints, fudge, angel foood
squares and Cokes was served to
the guests.
The honoree was the recipient
of many gifts.

hirst, Mrs. Ervin Schaefer, Mrs.
Ervin Reichers and Mrs. Clifford
James presented the honoree with

Copt and Mrs. Leslie Spreen of
Jericho, N. Y. announce the birth
of a daughter. Cheryl at the North
Shore Hospital, Manhasset, N. Y.
on Thursday, Nov. 18. She weigh-
ed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and is the

Spreen of Branham.

Five tables of players enjoyed
the hospitality of Mrs. E. P. An-
derson at Katherine’s . HGbby
House in Atlow Addition Friday
evening, when she was hostess
for dinner, followed by several
games of “Hollywood,” an adap-
tation of canasta. Red-berry py-
racantha and autumn roses a-
dorned the rooms.
A turkey plate, with cranberry
salad, fresh cocoanut cake, hot
tea and coffee were served on
large trays centered with minis
ture floral arrangements. Salted
nuts and tidbits were served
throughout the evening. Place
cards, also used as score cards,
showed a Thanksgiving design.
Mrs. 3 V. Carroll captured the
hand-painted tray offered as prize
for high score, and for consola-
tion Mrs. Bessie T. Hughes receiv-
ed. a.....miniature enameled pill
box. All players were asked to
cut for the guest prize, a box of
■ ornamental match holders filled
with matches, and Mrs. Ollie L.
Miller cut the high card.
