PERRYTON, May 4.—At a recent
meeting of the City Counell it was
decided to raise the amount at water
allowa to each customer on the min-
imum billingof 9200 per month Pram
2500 gailons to 4000 gallons. The
charge for al for all water over the
AKimum rate will be as heretofote
3* per thousand gallon. The city
council took this action in order to
encourage the eititens in the use of
more water in irrigating towns aad
gardens aad make the city men beau-
tiful and attractive.
Only four eases of contagious dis-
sase existed in Amarillo at the elose
k April, according to the report at
vas city health department filed yes-
tday with the city commission.
Thirteen new eases were reported and
13 wars released during the month.
Births during April, the report stat-
od. exceeded the number of deaths
by 88. Thors were 80 births report-
ed during the month, compared with
17 during March. Thirty-six deaths
wars reported during the past month
os against 37 during the previous
month.
April was a busy month for the
health department, its report showed.
A total of 319 health certificates were
issued, 301 of which were granted to
food handlers and 18 of which went
to barbers and beauty operators.
Three major operations and four
minor operations were performed in
addition to IM office calls.
Eight nsw patients wer admitted
to the city isolation hospital daring
the month and nine were dismissed,
leaving bat two in the hospital at
ths close of the month.
A large number of inspections were
made, including 43 barber shop and
15 beauty parlor inspections. Eighty-
eight routine and two special dairy
inspections were mads. A total of 68
wagons and 25 milk plants also were
inspected.
The efforts of the department to
guard against the spread of rabies
following the appearance of a ease
early in the month wss shown by a
report of 20 rabies investigations dur-
ing ths month.
Fifty-three moat markets, 21 poul-
try booses, 47 head of cattle and 18
hogs were inspected.
Other inspections included 115 gro-
cery stores, 11 meat markets, 17 bak-
eries, 102 cafes, 72 fountains, nlns
produce houses, six fruit stands and
three peddlers.
A large volume of work was hand-
isd by the city laboratory operated
by the health department. The re-
port showed a total of 180 milk an-
alyses and 11 eroam analyses dur-
ing the month. Twenty-eight liquor
analyses snd 84 food examinstions
were made in sddition to a largo
amount of other work.
