the Lions club yesterday noon.
"The bill now before congress, and

nothing but political subterfuge,” Mr.
Brawley naid, "It is fallacious. It
offers no sound or lasting relief."
"The government proposes to take
" MO million dollars of the taxpayers'
money and buy surplus grain,” Mr.
Beasley said. “The main trouble
I with the wheat situation today is
I ' that there is a big surplus and no
foreign demand. If the government
takes up this surplus for the Ameri-
can farmer, what will it do with the
wheat 7 Somebody must find a
buyer. If it buys tho surplus this
year, the demands may be bigger
next year, and who is going to pay
for this grain?”
Mr. Beasley said ths government i
should erect large elevators in Ama-
rillo, Plainview and other wheat
centers and store the grain for the
farmer until the demand is stronger.
