Only last week we chronicled in
these columns the fact that Mr. and
Mrs. S. B. Johnson, of the west side
of the county, were leaving with their
daughter for Coryell county for a.
short visit, with the hopes, that the ;
change of altitude would be good for
Mrs. Johnson, as she had been ill for
some time, but a wire was received
here. Sunday to the effect that Mrs.

CLEAN UP DAY IN BROWNFIELD
We are glad to announce that the
patriotic ladies known as the Maids
and Matrons Club of this place is
determined that Brownfield shall be
clean again, and they are going to
start the ball to rolling right away,
and to stay with it till the old girl
(we mean Brownfield) has had her
general annual clean up, and then
after the good ladies have given the
town the once over, we hope the cit-
izens of the town will take enough
pride in the place to keep it that
way in the future.
The Club is going to give some
handsome prizes too, we are assured,
to both the children for cleaning the
streets and ally's as well as around
the home premises, and these prizes
will be announced right away in the
school rooms. Be sure that you un-
derstand their conditions * and the
amounts and be ready ^o compete in
winning some of them.
