to help the grand jury.
It met again lust Monday and
investigated Monday afternoon and
all of Tuesday. It recessed until
Friday, because Judge Reams was
tied up with a murder trial at
Alice and could not receive the
report earlier.
•Not Full Truth’ ---.
A report signed by eight mem-
bers of the jury said Friday that
the petition by the seven jurors
saying .district attorney Homer ■
Dean Jr., would not co-operate
did not “state the full truth.”
Jury foreman E. B. Miller and
members A. C. Faires, Alfredo
Hinojosa, Sr., and Alvaro Guevara,
did not ign this report. Other sec-
tions of the report by the full jury
discussed the Freer election.
* Another section concerned nepo-
tism (hiring of relatives by offi-
cials)* in the Benavedes school dis-
trict. The jury was' presented two
petitions, one signed by 25 per-
sons and the other by 15 persons.
It also questioned Jose . Canales:
They decided to postpone con-
sideration of the nepotism charges
until after the July elections. '
Another section concerned gam-
bling and prostitution, about which
they questioned Ranger Joe
Bridge. -
The jurors reported that they
found no big-time commercial
gambling, and that, in fact, gam-
blug appears on the decline. They
said that most girls suspected of
being prostitutes work in tavewns.
“Some (of the girls I are pros-
titutes, but there is no definite
evidence,” they said.
They recommended constant vig-
ilance.
Parr quickly issued a tatement.

done in countless Maifests in
years gone by. The Washington
County Roping Club had charge
of this section. Following this
came the commercial section with
its many interesting entries.
A new feature was added this
year by the Pilot’s Club whose
women members took charge of
the little children as they were
taken from the floats after the
parade and kept them until their
mothers could come after them.
They did a good job, including
the furnishing of a pen of rab-
bits to entertain the youngsters
as they waited.
