“We talked last week about how the shot and disc
were going to have to come through, and Austin Crow-
der came through this week,” Puckett said. “He
finished second in the discus with a throw of 130’6”.
Our pole vaulters didn’t have the day they expected to.
There was a tail wind, which they weren’t accustomed
to. This was really the first day they’ve gotten outside
in a while. Jim Austin finished second.
“I’m real proud of the kids,” Puckett said. “Right
now, we’ve got some little strains and some slight
soreness, so we’re easing back. We’re going to run in a
meet Friday at Richardson, then take off Spring Break.
Our next meet will be Saturday, March 24, at Jesuit.”

before. Fifth place doesn’t sound wonderful, but con-
sidering we’re juggling people that day, it isn’t bad.’1
. Other members of the 800-meter relay team were "
Jenny Rothe, Susan Kleppe and Esther Mukasa-
Magoye.
“Once again, Melissa Rodgers placed second in the
mile run with a time of 6:02,” Perry said. “What’s O
interesting is that she ran a 5:59 split in the two-mile
run. So she was still hanging in there despite what she
had gone through earlier. Jenny Rodgers came in third
with a 6:05. We thought at first they were going to be in
different heats, which would have been a first. But
there were not enough, so they had to run together.”
