“It is tragic that so many motor-
ists may not survive these two holi-
days,” Col. Milner said. “The way to
prevent this terrible death toll is
simple: please don’t drink and drive;
don’t exceed the speed limit; and
don’t push your personal limit by
driving when you are tired. Aside
from these ‘don’ts’, there is one

until midnight Tuesday, Dec. 25.
The New Year’s period will begin 6
p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, and will

“I hope all of us can work together
over the holidays to keep the
number of traffic deaths way down
this year,” Milner said.
The National Safety Council has
estimated from 380 to 480 persons
will be killed in holiday traffic acci-
dents across the nation this year,
with another 14,000 to 17,000
suffering disabling injuries.

Lone Star Gas
plans pipeline
for county
Significantly higher volumes of
natural gas will be available for Allen,
McKinney, Plano and other nearby
cities when a new 20-inch, high
volume pipeline is completed by
Lone Star Gas.
Right-of-way acquisition for the
26.5 mile line is now underway and
construction is expected to begin in
March. Completion is scheduled for
the summer.
The new pipeline will connect with
an existing 24 inch, high volume
pipeline on the east side of Collin
County near McKinney. It will
generally follow Highway 121 west
to a location near Frisco, where it
will tie into another existing Lone
Star Line.
The estimated cost of the new
pipeline is over $8 million, and will
; bring the amount spent on recent
improvements to increase the
» volume of gas supplied to the north-
i ern Metroplex area to $12 million.
