No. 801 1 AN ACT 2 relating to training for Department of Family and Protective 3 Services personnel receiving reports of child abuse and neglect. 4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 5 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 261, Family Code, is 6 amended by adding Section 261.3016 to read as follows: 7 Sec. 261.3016. TRAINING OF PERSONNEL RECEIVING REPORTS OF 8 ABUSE AND NEGLECT. The department shall develop, in cooperation 9 with local law enforcement officials and the Commission on State 10 Emergency Communications, a, training program for department 11 personnel who receive reports of abuse and neglect. The training 12 program must include information on: 13 (1) the proper methods of screening reports of abuse 14 and neglect; and 15 (2) ways to determine the seriousness of a report, 16 including determining whether a report alleges circumstances that 17 could result in the death of or serious harm to a child or whether 18 the report is less serious in nature. 19 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
