LOS ANGELES (UP)—An ex-
pert in jury selection says citi-
zen! chosen for jury duty should
get higher pay and more con-
siderate treatment.
Dr. Ellis E. McCune of Occi-
dental College said jury duty
has become so undesirable that
it “is difficult to assert that jury
panels represent the community
at large.’’
McCune recommended more
pay, and for appearance when |
summoned rather than actual i
trial service, shortening jury
service periods end making bet-
ter use of jurors.
“Jurors’ pay in California
now ranges form $3 to $6 per
day, plus mileage one way,” the
expert said, "This does not be-
gin to offset the loss of wages
suffered.”
