SAN ANTONIO, Tex. (AP) -
A senior vice president of public
relations for Texas Inter-
national and two other Houston
men are under orders here to
testify before a federal antitrust
grand jury.
The three men were granted
immunity and compelled to tes-
tify under orders signed by U.S.
District Judge Adrian Spears,
court records show.
Listed in the latest orders are
James A. Cassady, who directs
the Texas International public
relations operations; Clinton B
McCutcheon, former vice presi-
dent of research for Texas In-
ternational, and Tom R.
McCauley, regional vice presi-
dent of Braniff International.
The immunity orders, grant-
ed under provisions of the Or-
ganized Crime Act of 1970, says
each man "has refused under
oath to answer certain ques-
tions propounded to him or give
testimony on the basis of his
privilege against selfin-
crimination,"
The grand jury taking such
testimony was empaneled last
September and is thought to be
looking at air line competition
in Dallas, Houston and San An-
tonio.
According to subpoenas, the
grand jury wants to study cer-
tain actions of Texas Inter-
national and Braniff regarding
a new airline, Southwest Air-
lines, which operates in the
three Texas cities.
The orders for Cassady,
McCauley and McCutcheon are
entitled, "Grand Jury Investi-
gation of Braniff Airways, Inc.,
and Texas International Air-
lines, Inc.”
The grand jury has yet to take
official action
To date, a total of six present
or former airline executives
have been granted immunity
and compelled to testify in con-
nection with the casa
