Guacamole

4 avacadoes peeled and mashed
save one seed to put back in
1 large tomato diced
6 green onions, chopped
2 jalapena peppers seeded and chopped
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp chilli powder
juice of 1/2 lemon
Mix all ingredients well, put one
seed back in the mixture to help guard
against turning brown. Refrigerate
Serve on a bed of lettuce with chips.
Taco Soup
1 lb. ground meat
1 small onion chopped
1-4 oz. can chopped green chillies
1 tsp salt
1 package taco seasoning mix
1 pkg. Ranch dressing mix (dry)
1 can hominy
3 cans tomatoes
1 -15 oz can kidney beans
1 -15 oz can pinto beahs

James Gibson
Dies Feb. 23
James Gibson, 77, Bogata, died
suddenly at his residence Wednes-
day morning, Feb. 23, 1994.
Funeral services were at4:00p.m.
on Friday, Feb. 25 in Bogata at the
United Methodist Church with Rev.
Bob Bush officiating. Burial was in
the Bogata Cemetery under direction
of Wood Funeral Home.
Mr. Gibson was bom June 5,1916
in Bogata, the son of Nort and Beulah
Lowery Gibson. He married the
former Francis Davidson in 1937 in
Antlers, Oklahoma. He was a retired
government meat inspector and a
member of Bogata United Methodist
Church. He is survived by his wife
Francis Gibson of Bogata, a daugh-
ter and son -in-law, Cerita and Skip
Glover of Sulphur Springs, two grand-
daughters, Tammy Cooper and
Suzanne Eddins, both of Sulphur
Springs, one great-granddaughter,
Katie Lee Cooper, of Sulphur Springs,
two sisters. Opal Watts of Bogata and
Billlie Owens of Columbus, Texas.
Active pallbearers were Frank
Stubblefield, Sam Barnard, Carl
Wood, Paul Reynolds, Travis Hale,
Howard Ed Bryson, Kenneth Jeffery,
and James Lawson. Honorary pall-
bearers were Billy Cawley, David
Townes and other members of
Bogata Domino Club.

William Jessie Skidmore, 93;
Clayton, Texas, died Monday, Feb.
28 1994, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, March 3, 1994 at 2:00
p m. at Clayton Cemetery, with the
Rev Freddy Mason officiating,
Jimerson Funeral Home of Carthage
being in charge of the arrangements.
Mr Skidmore was bom Septem-
ber 25, 1900 in Red River County;
Texas a son of Thomas Marshall
Skidmore and Lou Tissue Williams
Skidmore. He was a retired rancher
and farmer and had also been a mail
carrier, carrying mail on horsebacks
for eight years. He married Myrtle"
April Hall on January 6,1924 in Red
River County, Texas. They had just
celebrated their 70th wedding anni-
versary this year. She preceded him
in death on January 28 of this year.
He was also preceded in death by M
granddaughter, Barbara Craig, in
1974 and a son-in-law, Clanton
Robinett in 1985. Survivors include
five daughters and four sons-in-law:
Lillie Faye Robinett of Claytori,
Bernice & John Cooksey of Beeville;
Margaret and Alvin VanDeaver of
Detroit, TX, Doris and Richard Snell
of Tyler, Mary and Billy Crook of
Arlington; one sister, Willie Mae
Topping of Bogata; ten grandchil-
dren; 21 great-grandchildren and 7
great-great-grandchildren. |

Dies February 22
Grace Harkins Mahon, 84, Paris,
diedTuesday.Feb. 22,1994,atBaylor
Medical Center, Dallas.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m,,
Friday, Feb. 25, at the First Baptist
Church of Blossom with the Rev.
Burgie Thompson officiating.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home made
burial in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The
family received friends from 78
p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mahon was born June 13,
1909, in Fort Towson, Okla., a daugh-
ter of James H. and Viney Murray
Harkins. She married Hollis M.
Mahon April 20,1927. He died May
14, 1992. She was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Blossom and
worked for many years in a fabric
shop in Borger. I
1 1/2 cups water
Brown and drain ground meat. Stir in
all other ingredients. Simmer a while.
Serve with warm Flour tortillas.
Pico de Gallo
2 large tomatoes chopped
1 med. yellow onion chopped
1 or 2 chopped Jalapena peppers
1/4 tsp. salt
juice of 1/2 lemon or lime
6 to 8 cilantro leaves chopped
Mix and serve on tacos or with
beans.
Flour Tortillas
8 cups White flour tortilla mix ( Harina
Preparada para tortillas)
1 1/2 cups water
Mix well. Roll into balls and roll the
balls into thin circles. Heat on each side
in a non stick skillet just until they start
to brown. Makes about 36. •♦♦•••To
make pumpkin pies with this, add cin-
namon and sugar to the flour before you
add the water. Roll the circles out as
before. Put pumpkin pie mix in the
middle. Fold over like a fried pie but put
in the oven and bake instead of frying.

Farris and Lula Brown Whitney. He
was a member of First Baptist
Church in Talco, Texas.
He is survived by two brothers,
Albert E. Whitney of Mt. Pleasant,
and Glen W. Whitney of Talco; two
sisters, Imogene Martin of Talco,
and Beatrice VannHouser of
Winfield, Texas; numerous aunts and
uncles and numerous nieces and neph-
ews. His parents and two sisters,
Patsy Dyke and Neva Nell, preceded
him in death.
