made available Tuesday will sup-
plement an earlier $3 million allot-
ment.
Agriculture Department uses the
money to buy hay and other feed
and to ship it into the areas, mostly
in the South, where pastures and
feed crops were blighted by Alast
summer's long dry spell. The feed
is then sold to livestock vaiurs at
a reduced price.
But in a statement issued by
the Republican national committee,
charged that the timing of Mr. Tru-
man's action was “obviously polit-
leal.”
“These states have been suffer-
ing for a considerable period," he
said. "Now, just three weeks be-
> fore national elections, they are
. given relief. It is the old Demo-
1 cratic formula of buying votes with
public funds. If there were no elec-
tions, there would be no relief.”
