The Brenham Church of
Christ conducted its first wor-
ship services in its new church
plant on Sunday, May 31. Oscar
C. Allen, minister of the church,
announced that this event was
commemorated with a record
setting number in attendance.
Many visitors, from Brenham
and neighboring towns, swelled
the attendance to 15 per cent
above normal.
The congregation will be con-
ducting open house each night
from June 7 through June 11.
The public is invited to come
by the building, located at
1302 Washington, and inspect
the facilities. A Gospel Meeting
is also being planned to run
concurrently with the open
house.
. Services each night will con-
sist of prayer, congregational
singing. and gospel preaching,
Herb Smith, minister at the
Grove Avenue Church of Christ
in San Antonio, has been en-
gaged to speak each night.
Smith has done extensive
evangelistic work, having re-
cently completed a Gospel
meetinginIaGrange
The congregational singing
will be under the direction of
the regular song leaders; Ver-
dell Toll, Ben Rust, Bob Cor-
ley. and Clifford Parsons. No
collections will be taken during

Church of the Master in Dallas,
Texas, August 1, 1965. He pre-
sented his resignation to the
St. John’s congregation at a
called meeting on Sunday, May

Pastor Johnson pointed grate-
fully to significant achieve-

tion during the six years of his
