World Wide Communion at
10 45 a m.
By MRS. EMIL ALLEN
Recant visitors in Indepen-
dence were Mrs. Margarete
Williamson of Lawton. Okla.,
Mr. and Mrs. Harry W. Wil-
liamson of Amarillo, Mrs.
Hanna Stenheagren of Ander-
ton, Karolyn Blackwell of
Bryan and a student from
College Station. Wallace A.
Dean.
Mrs. Stenheagren is a mem-
ber of the Historical Society of
Anderson and has Invited ui to
visit some of the places of
interest there. That we will be
happy to do as soon as possible.
Mr. and Mrs. Tass Clay
came to call at the pastor’s
home Monday evening and
brought us a treasure that was
mailed to her for the Historicat
Center It has a grat history
and we deeply appreciate the
thoughtfulness of her sister,
Mrs. J. M. McKenna of San
Antonio for sharing it with
Independence. It Is an old ink
well that was used by Brother
Billy Wood, known and loved
by the citizens of Independence
and who lived for many years
at the old Blanton Hotel The
ink-we|| was given to a colored
woman, whose name we do not
know, that worked there. It —
was a decorative piece for her
fireplace for many years and
since Mrs, McKenna admited
It Was given to her and she
took it with her to Sap Antonio
for her new horn* when she
was a bride. This has been
treasured as a gift from one
she loved and now she says.
“It belongs in Independence
and so I am sending it to the
Texas Baptist Historical Cen-
ter." Since the center has not
been built it now adorns my
living room desk and challenges
us to g*t the museum building
started so we can show these
things that “belong in Inde-
pendence."

Society will meet at the church
