Along with pizza, the Pizza
Factory also offers a salad bar,
sandwiches and the Columbo
non-fat frozen yogurt. By mid-
September, Nancy states that
they are hoping to have a drive-
thru window installed to serve
their customers even better.
Art and Nancy have three
children of their own - Dennis,
Denise and David, but the main
thing that is keeping Art busy
these days is serving as a direc-
tor for the Kendall County Fair.
And when you visit this
vear’s fair olan to stop by the
Pizza Factory's booth for pizza
and yogurt. The Boerne Band
Boosters will man the booth
with all proceeds going toward
that organization.
For your convenience, the
Pizza Factory is open Monday
through Saturday from 11 a.m.
until 10 p.m. and on Sundays
from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Ac-
cording to Nancy, ar-
rangements may be made to
have the establishment open
during off hours for parties and
other special events.

delicious slice of pizza, stop by

Last week I forgot to wish our
long time friend and master
mechanic, Frank Lancaster, a happy
81st birthday August 20. Sorry
Frank - you are one very fine fellow,
and we admire your intestinal
fortitude in your latest health
problem. God bless you!
This year only our lovely
columnist, Joella Bean, will be
unable to work in the ART
DIVISION of our Kendall County
Fair. The co-chairman, Ruth
Shipman, 981-8670, would appreci-
ate assistance in the accepting and
displaying of all the art work this
year - Friday, September 4, 1992.
Volunteers may call Joella. at
537-4407 - your help would be
greatly appreciated.
I heartily recommend “Fried
Green Tomatoes” - great video now
available for $1.50 at our largest
grocery store - $3 next month and at
Boerne Video, 1001 North Main.

Miss the Bijou pizza that you
used to buy at the Oak Park
Shopping Center? Miss the
family atmosphere, the service,
the Columbo non-fat frozen
yogurt?
If you have been missing the
Bijou, then you have been
missing The Pizza Factory.
The Pizza Factory, located at
the Bentwood Center across
from the high school, is the old
Bijou - only with a new name
and location.
Nancy and Art Vadnais,
owners of the Bijou, opened
The Pizza Factory April 1 of this
year and 'carried with them
some of the old Bijou concepts.
Their pizzas are still hand-
rolled with dough and sauce
that is made fresh daily. The
family-oriented restaurant still
has a video arcade, still hosts
birthday parties and they still
rent out family-oriented
movies.
The families and the school
kids are important to the Vad-
nais', says Nancy. “The kids
are our number one
customers.'' Extremely in-
terested in the youth of the
community, the Pizza Factory
supports local youth organiza-
tions, all schools and have even
dedicated one entire wall to

Catherine Marie Wilkinson of
Boerne and Donald Michael
Downard of Sisterdale were united
in marriage Saturday, August 8,
1992 at 6 p.m. in the Boerne
Assembly of God Church in Boerne.
Reverend Walter Jones officiated at
the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas J. Wilkinson, Jr.
of Boerne. The groom’s parents are
Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Downard of
Sisterdale.
Altar arrangements of yellow
flowers and emerald foliage formed
the background with the unity

Hooray for those wonderful
Boerne Star readers who donated
rare AB blood for Charles [Mrs.
John Henry] Key who is now home
from the hospital - what a
magnificently courageous lady she
is. I want to repeat the names of the
donors in case some of you didn’t
read Charlene’s Letter to the Editor
last week. The AB blood donors
were: Roland Funke, Dee Lehmann,
Jackie Cardenas, Steven Ewald,
June Marschall [who came all the
way from Llano to be at Wilford
Hall by 8 a.m.]. There were seven
donors in all and many others
offered to give blood. You are in our
prayers, Charlene, and what a
terrific battle you have fought these
past six and one-half years since
being injured in an auto accident,
the result of a drunk driver. God
bless you and your most supportive
family and friends!,
Friends and loved ones said
goodbye to a valliant lady here last
Thursday, Elizabeth Palmer’ [Mrs.
Robert] Sugg, mother of Brent

longhorn,cattle. Brent was a faithful
member of our Boerne Reading Club
for over 30 years. Our sympathy to
the family - we shall miss her.
