”210" To Replace ’’512’’
Write down this number:
’’210.’’
That’s the new area code for Boerne, San Antonio and
a wide range of cities in the current ”512" zone.
The new area code goes into effect November 1.
Telephone companies will provide a six-month
"permissive dialing period from November 1 to May 2,
1993. During this period calls indirectly dialed to the
512 area code will be switched automatically to the cor-
rect number in the 210 area code.
Cities switching to the 210 area code include, Boerne,
San Antonio, Fredericksburg and Kerrville.
The new area code was established due to an almost-
exhausted supply of possible telephone prefixes within
the growing 512 area.
Austin and Corpus Christi will remain in the 512 area
code.

with representatives of various
school booster clubs before consid-
ering a policy to deal with the or-
ganizations.
Trustee Rosemary Piper, who had
placed the item on the agenda, of-
fered a motion to adopt a policy
recommended by the Texas
Association of School Boards
(TASB), but withdrew her motion
to permit booster club members to

Several booster club presidents
attended the October meeting of the
school board, expressing concern
that the trustees might take over
more control over the clubs. But
