Relatives Of Cavazos
Threetime All Boder confer-
ence halfback and second string
All American Bobby Cavazos of
Texas Tech has some relatives
right here in Gainesville. You
might have read not so long ago
about Dick -Cavazos, brother of
Bobby who only recently returned
from Korea. In fact, Dick’s pic-
ture was in the Fort Worth Star-
Telegram and dericted him greet-
ing some of the Texas Tech play-
ers at Amon Carter field on their
way back to Lubbock, following
their Gator Bowl win over Au-
burn.
Anyhow, Dick is the husband of
a Gainesville girl, the former
Carolyn Greek. She was a physi-
cal education teacher in the local
high school last season, while
her decorated soldier husband
was in Korea. Carolvn is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. M.

of a double header basketball pro-
gram here tonight, the boys tak-
ing a 46-27 win over the Wildcats
and the girls routing the Callis-
burg six 30-13.
The boys battle was a 29-B af-

heap in loop standings. Last week
the Wildcats of Joe Fox lost a
close one to Prairie Valley, while
Troy Stewart's Muenster club
dropped a tiff to Forestburg.
It was just too much Wendell
Richey on the Callisburg court,
however, and the Muenster ace
bucketed 24 points to lead his
mates to the ' triumph. Wallace
Dougherty helped the cause along
with 12 points, as the Bugs led
all the way. They held an 8-5 lead

Lions retained their winning ways
in District 3A-3 here tonight when
they hobbled the Denison Yellow

Frankie Biggs and Billy Dunn

Lions, while Don Lummus buck-

The Jackets were crippled due
to therofact that four boys had

point-maker on the squad, was
one of the boys suspended, along
with Coy Davis, Leroy Snow and-

After a definite lull in hook and line activity for the past couple
of weeks, things took a decided jump for the better yesterday when
numerous reports of fine catches of sandbass and catfish were re-
corded from Red River.
We talked to P. D. Gandillon Friday morning and he declared
that not too many names have crossed his desk, but he has had re-
ports of people who have sighted anglers lugging crammed-full
stringers up the river banks. b
