season for the year 1922 upon the

Notice to all Stock owners, per-
son, corporation or company
owning or controlling any cattle,
horses and mules and etc, except
horses and mules that are work
stock:-
Austin County will begin sys-
tematic tick eradication work on
or about April the first, at such
time you will be notified through
the papers, also by your local in-
spectors in charge. In conducting
the dipping of cattle, the owner
thereof must drive them or have
them driven, to and from the
dipping vat. He shall also drive,
or have them driven into and
through the dipping vat, and
furnish all labor that the inspec-
tor may require in inspecting the
cattle. Owners and caretakers of
cattle are cautioned to be very
careful in handling them to and
from the vats, and in driving
them into and through the vat,
as they should not be subjected
to rough handling or driven hur-
riedly, as cattle should never be
dipped when in a heated condi-
tion nor should they be allowed
to become heated after dipping.
It is not the inspectors duty to
handle the cattle, nor to dip or
assist in dipping them. His duties
shall consist of making necessary
inspections of cattle when the
owner has placed them in a con-
venient position for such inspec-
tion, charging the dipping vats
hopes to be able to award a prize
to the winner of each contest.
The representative business men,
the banks, and the Parent-Teach-
ers’ Associations all over the
county are liberally donating
prizes for these contests.

ping dates and the vats where
each dipping is to be done on
specified dates and be present at
the dipping while the dipping is
in progress, for the purpose of
making a record of all cattle dip-
ped, so that proper reports there-
of may be made and the owner
receive credit for having dipped
his cattle on the proper date in
prescribed dipping material of
the required strength. It shall
also be his duty to serve dipping
orders and quarantine notices,
issued from the office of the Live
Stock Sanitary Commission, on
the owner or caretaker of cattle
and to do such other things as
the Live Stock Sanitary Commis-
sion may instruct him to do. The
owner or caretaker should always
water their cattle immediately
before starting to the vats with
them to prevent them from drink-

Notice
It will be necessary for the
Commissioners Court of Austin
County to employ about ten Dip-
ping Vat inspectors, for the dip-
ping season for this year.
The duties of each inspector
will be to clean out, re-fill, re-
charge and repair all dipping
vats and pens intrusted to his
care, together with dipping cat-
tle and keeping a correct list of
all cattle dipped as is required by
the Live Stock Sanitary Commis-
sion.
The County will furnish all
necessary material for repairing
vats and pens.
Therefore all persons desiring
to bid for the inspection work as
above stated will make such bids
to the Commissioners Court, stat-
ing the amount desired per
months for the dipping season.
Each inspector will have placed
in his care not less than eight
vats.
Bids will be received up to
March 20th, 1922. The court re-
serves the right to reject any and
all bids.

Little Meta Louisa Brandt,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. F.
Brandt of Kenney, died at their
home early Thursday morning,
March 2d, of pneumonia, after
having been ill only four days.
The funeral took place Friday
afternoon, with interment at
Germania Cemetery, Rev. Poehl-
mann of the Lutheran Church
officiating. The little girl was
only two years, ten months, and
two days old, and in her death
her parents and other members
of the family have the sympathy

THE STOCK LAW”.

be for the Jr. boys. Jr. girls, for
the Sr. boys, and Sr. girls. Es-
