Special to Messenger :
As we have not seen any-
thing in the Messenger from
this section, I will write a few
lines.
Farmers are in fine spirits.
Corn is fine, oats were never
better. Cotton is a little off.
The fruit crop is simply im-
mense. Farmers are very
busy harvesting. The candi-
date crop is also quite large.
There are six in less than 3
miles of me, and my old lady
says: “You’d better lock
the crib and smoke house, for
I saw one of them candidates
pass here this eve.” [Here
follows laudation of a favorite
candidate, which we would
insert, if we knew’ we were to
be paid for it. Ed.]
We attended the Garvin
picnic May 19. Everything
passed off quietly and all had
a good time, and especially
the candidates. We will have
a picnic in the suburbs of
Hog Branch soon, and Mr.
Editor we will give you a
stool.
As we are not accustomed
to writing to newspapers, we
will close and will write again
if this does not find its way to
the waste basket. Wishing
the live editor of the Messen-
ger success, etc.
