least Mr. Bailey will prove that he is
not a fool. His past record makes
Democratic euthusiasm on his part
„7 — extremely inconsistent. It illustrates
inconsistency of double strength for
him to be enthusiastic on an occasion
where Bryan is to be the guest of
honor.
Mr. Bailey's record as a Democrat
is that of a bolter. Whenever any
one plank does not meet his view he
kicks out of party harness, and on two
occasions hasseemingly forced a truc
ulent constituency to indorse his fool-
ishness. He did this as to theCh.cago
platform, and refused to be a candid-
ate on the platform——that is, refused
after a fashion. At the urgent de-
mand of his constituency—-including
Coon Potter, Ike Standifer, Alvin
Owsley, Don Bliss and Cecil S nith— -
he reconsidered his “refuse” and
stayed in the race. Then Coon Potter
fainted, Ike Standifer kicked off his
own hat. Alvin Owsley went home
with a chill, Cecil Smith was attacked
with jaundice, while Don Bliss turned
upon his heels and walked away whist-

The Democrat.’ Carnival at the Dal-
las State Fair. Oct. 2 and 3, is going to
—A be an immense affair. Not only Mr.
" Bryan is to attend, but distinguished
Democrats from all parts of the United
States will fie on hand. It will strain
Dallas to entertain the crowds. All
the Democrats of the State who can
possibly afford the expense will cer-
tainly honor the occasion. Prominent
Democrats over the State are sending
in letters to the committees tender-
ing congratulations and service.
Among these is the distinguished
Democratic leader of Congress, the
Hou. J. W. Bailey.
