Luke x. 27—Commentary Prepared |
by Rev. D. M. Stearns.
Continuing our study of the two ta-
bles given to Moses, we will look first
at the six remaining commandments
and then at what is written concerning
the relation of the whole to the sinner
and the saint. The fifth command is
repeated and applied to believers to-
day in Eph. vi. 1-3. In reference to the
sixth, “Thou shalt not kill," our Lord
taught that it was dangerous even to
be angry, and in I John Hi, 15, we read
that “whosoever hateth his brother is
a murderer.” In reference to the sev-
enth Matt. V. 28, teaches that it may
be broken by even a look. As to the
eighth, the question is asked in Mal
iii. 8. “Will a man rob God?” and the
answer is. "Ye have robbed Me in
tithes and offerings."
Many a man who would not be guilty
of stealing a dime or a nickel robs God
of His Sabbath day by finding his own
pleasure in it and is meaner than Ja
cob in refusing to give back to God at
least a tenth of that which God has
