the overall theme. The entire
community is invited to hear
these four lectures, which will
begin Friday evening, January
8, with Dr. I. Ronald Sonen-
thal discussing “A Psycho-
analyst Looks at Religion.”
On January 15, Dr. I. D.
Peters will speak on “Psychi-
atry and Judaism.” Then on
January 22, Dr. Abe Hauser
will discuss “A Psychiatrist
Looks at Religion.” The clos-
ing lecture, January 29, will
be presented by the head of the
Department of Psychiatry of
Baylor Medical School, Dr. W.
T. Lhamon, who will present
the theme “The Contribution
of Psychiatry to Human Wel-
fare.”
These lectures are free and
open to the public and will be
held in the Abe Levy Memorial
Hall directly following services
which begin at 8:15 p.m. All
the lectures will include ques-
tion periods from the audience.
Here is a unique opportunity to
get a better understanding of
the insight of psychiatry into
the spiritual affirmations of re-
ligion in general, and Judaism
in particular.

New Young Unmarried
Adult Group Formed At
Cong. Beth Yeshurun
A talk by Joshua Weinstein,
educational director of Cong
Beth Yeshurun, on “The Mys-
tery of the Dead Sea Scrolls”
will open a three-fold series of
activities of the congregation’s
new young unmarried adult
group this week
The meeting, to which all
young adults of college age and
over are invited, will begin at
8 pm., Sunday, Jan. 10, at the
home of Miss Leah Sklar, 3810
Bellefontaine. A discussion of
Mr. Weinstein’s talk, an exami-
nation of the group’s new pro-
gram, and a social will follow.
The new organization will at-
tempt to accomplish three ob-
jectives in its new program.
First, it plans a series of talks
and discussions on Jewish issues
and Jewish writings Members
will use the Sunday meeting to
decide among such series topics
as “Great Jewish Books,”
“Jewish Personalities of the
Past,” and “Archaeology and
the Light It Sheds on the Jew-
ish and Christian Scriptures ”
Or members may select a com-
bination of these topics.
Second, the group is viewing
a program of service to the lo-
cal community and Israel. Un-
der consideration are projects
to help the Jewish Theological
Seminary’s new student center
in Jerusalem and to help equip
an Israel youth village’s libra-
ry, as well as assistance to the
Beth Yeshurun library.
Third, the club will offer op-
portunities for fellowship. Dan-
ces and get-togethers, many of
them in private homes, are be-
ing planned.
