TO SCHOOLS
Detroit, (JTA)—Mayors, su-
perintendents of schools and
board of education heads from
46 Michigan cities acclaimed
this week two Detroit Jewish
merchants, Al and Tom Bor-
man, who presented to the offi-
cials 450 -set* of the Encyclo-
pedia Brittanies for use in pub-
lic and parochial schools
Certificates for the encyclo-
pedias were presented to the
city officials and educators at
ceremonies here at the Ver-
erans Memorial Building. Prior
to the ceremonies, at a lunch
eon in the office of Mayor
Louis C. Miriani, the Borman
brothers presented certificates
for the book-sets to Miss Louise
Grace, president of the Detroit
Board of Education.
Among those receiving the
gifts officially on behalf of the
schools with which they are
connected were Rabbi Richard
C. Hertz, of this city; E. F
Wiese, assistant superintendent
of schools for institutions con-
ducted by the Lutheran Church;
and the Rev. John Zwers, for
the Catholic Archdiocese erf
