This year's Pilgrimage in addi-
tion to visiting historical and re-
ligious sites, attending special
seminars including a program with
Danny Siegel and the annual visit
to Yoseftal, will visit an Ethiopian
Aliyah Village where they will pre-
sent the school supplies collected
by our Jewish school children.
Special arrangements are also be-
ing made to meet Russian olim,
to experience an arrival at the
airport, to visit an absorption
center and to take part in a spe-
cial program with Russian teen-
agers.
Other exciting trips include a
visit to an Army base and camp-
ing in the desert, seminars at the
Alon Center, the Gitlis Propo-
ganda Center and the Memorial
Center for Intelligence and a visit
to the Diaspora Museum.
Pilgrimage '91 promises to be

on the 52 social studies coordi-
nators and selected teachers from
20 school districts.
Martin Fein, chairman, and Dr.
David Bell, vice chairman, wel-
comed the educators and thanked
them for taking time to discover
innovative approaches for teach-
ing one of the darkest passages
in history.
The symposium was coordi-
nated by Lidya Osadchey, direc-
tor of the Center/Museum. She
spoke of its thrust: to promote,
operate and maintain a museum
and educational center in Hous-
ton to "collect resources and
materials necessary for educa-
tional programs on the Holocaust
and related subjects and to make
such materials available to edu-
, cational institutions, civic organi-
zations and the general public".
Keynote speakers were Dr.
Marcia Littell, an internationally

' Myers graduates from Wash-
ington University in St. Louis this
month with a double major in
Psychology and History. Like

Operation Brightside and Special
Olympics.
Both Becker and Myers are past
participants in Pilgrimage and
hope to make tins trip special to
this year's group as did their

This year, 66 students will be
participating in Pilgrimage '91.
These students, who are from five
different Houston congregations,
are excitedly counting the days
until their departure on Sunday,
June 9.
Joining the leadership team of
Janice Gerber, Pilgrimage admin-
istrator, Ken Midlo, educational
director, and Barbara Loeser are
Sunni Becker and Jeremy Myers.
Becker, who graduated from the
University of Colorado with a B.A.
major in Psychology is presently
a preschool teacher at the Becker
Early Childhood Center. She has

The Leadership Skills Commit-
tee of the Women's Division of
the Jewish Federation of Greater
Houston is taking advantage of
the local talent who are national-
ly recognized for their fundrais-
ing abilities in a workshop en-
titled, "Overcoming the Fear of
Fundraising". The workshop will
be held Wednesday, May 15, from
11:30 a.m.-l p.m. at the Jewish
Federation of Greater Houston.
The workshop is opn to all
women who hold leadership
roles in Jewish women's organiza-
tions in Houston. Women's Di-
vision chairwoman Ellen Penner
has appointed Sheryl Falik as the
Education chairman for the 1991
campaign year, and she has ap-
pointed a Leadership Skills Com-
mittee, which consists of Sarah
. Braham, Janet Frost and Charlett
Frumin, who have organized three
successful workshops this year.
Featured as guest workshop
leaders are Sandra Weiner and
Joe Williams. Weiner was the first
woman to serve as the president
of the Jewish Federation of Great-
er Houston.
Joe Williams is president of
Wisenberg Insurance + Risk
Management and currently serves
on the Board of Trustees of the
Jewish Federation of Greater
Houston. 7
