WILBARGER COUNTY HAS
RECEIVED 25,657 BALES
VERNON, TxAS, Nov. IL—Wil-
barger county han made great
btrides in gathering this year's cot-
ton crop and the returns from ths
25,657 bales which have been ginned
to datetwil wtobably exceed sa,s09,-
Mb. The crop Mbs not all been
pickedand the next two week* will
swell this total some 1M0 bales. The
total last year woo about M.M0
bales. A statement waa mode today
by one of our good citizens that
Wilbarger held first placs in the
number of bales of cotton raised
this year of all countien weat and
northwest of Fort Worth, and will
probably rank third i the state,
bithough it has in about ons-fourth
the acreage ol counties that have
raised more bale*, for the year.
On the eand land ,of the -county,
which, seems to reslat the drouth
better- than the black or tight land,
the yield haa boon from a third to
one-half bale per aero. There wove'
many, many acres in the county
that haa produced a bale per sore.
The tight land had a smaller yield
than the sandy land, but svsn it was
much bsttsr than some other in thto
'county. The banka, and business
men have felt the stimulattng ef-
fect of the good returne received
from thto years crop. Oe banker
stated that "some notee that had
whiskers almoat have been given a
clean ehavd." The prospects for a
good wheat crop next year are very
fine and the farmer* are expecting
a bumper crop, after the fine ruins
that have fallen all over thto sec-
tion of the state. Farmers of thto
ssetion are very fortunate with the
price of ltvestock on the up-grade
and with a good demand for poultry
and dairy products. Owing to the
fine weather for harvesting the
cotton the' buyefa state that very
nitui, low grade cotton han Men
