Wallace Gregg, for eight years head
of the splendid Slidell public schools,
is an announced candidate for the
office of county superintendent. This
energetic and popular educator, say
his friends, is well equipped for the
office he seeks at the hands of the
voters of Wise county. He lias had
thirteen years’ experience in the
school room in Wise county, and the
record he has made stamps him as
one of the most successful iustructors
in se county.
4 Gregg was born in the Anne
cille community, south of Decatur,
and is a member of one of the oldest
ami most highly respected families.
A gentlemnan, scholarly and pleasing
in manner, he has drawn about him
numerous warm friends, who claim
that the voters will make no mistake
in selecting him to head the educa-
tional affairs of the county. Pro-
gressive and thoroly alive to the needs
of our schools, Mr. Gregg is peculiarly
fitted for the office, these friends say.

Never before in the history of Wise county journalism has there been sueh
a reception, on the part of the people, given a “Bargain Day event as kas greeted
the Messenger, and, believing that other citizens in this community desire to take
advantage of the opportunity to subscribe for the “Pioneer Pjper” at reduced ates,
we have extended the “Bargain Days” to February 1st, 1926. Duringrthat time you
can subscribe for the Best and Most Popular Paper in the county for ?1.00 f dr the
year. Hundreds have taken advantage of the offer during the past month, and a
record in Wise county newspaperdom has been stablished by the Messenger, and a
record that will stand as a challenge to any newspaper in the county, and one that
has never been approached by any publication ever published in Wise count/. More
than sixteen hundred subscriptions expired during the month of December, and to
date, only three old subscribers have stated that they did not intend to renew their
subscriptions. Two of these staled that “hard times' with them prevented, and one
was displeased concerning a news note printed in the paper. Io ‘counteract this
loss of three, more than one hundred and fifty new subscribers have enrolled, and
have reasons to believe that before February 1st, 1926, at least five hundred new
subscribers will have been added to the fast growing list.
s.....Messenger is proud of its record; the dream of its owners to thoroughly com-
mand the field in the home county has been substantially realized, and today it is
the monarch of the field First in News, First in Circulation, First iu the homes of
