Should not such an important act

when compared with the price of raw

Here the record declares that the
Populists were true to the constitu-

The governor viciously attacked
the Hth plank in the People’s party
state platform which declares: "We
demand an amendment to the consti-

public school fupds not otherwise in-
vested, upon lands of the people of
this state, with proper limitations
upon quantity of land and the amount

I answer by pointing to the gover-
nor's own words certifying tkat labor-
ing people are in all things perfectly
law-abiding. We know of no mobs
outside of Demopratie conventions,
and they imbibe so much "harmony
essence" thut they are becoming
harmless. Evy one would recog-

money metals of the United States."
Every one knows that the 16 to 1
proposition was voted down at the
Dallas conventiou. The governor
could not have forgotten these facts.
How could he come here and claim to
be a Democrat and advocate the (ree
coinage of silver at any ratio?
He surely could not contend that there
is the faintest hope to secure the free
coinage of silver inside the present
organized Democracy. -Iv 1892 the
Democratic house of representatives,
with 148 Democratic majority, de-
feated a free silver coinage act passed
by a Republican senate. The Fifty-
third congress with a safe Democratic
majority declared against free coin-
age at any ratio. The president ve-
toed even the seigniorage bill. There
