School counselors are urging par-
ents to see that their children get a
good night’s sleep and a good
breakfast before test time.
Counselor Phil Wagner emphasized
the need for studnets to do well in
the test since in the high school,
mastery of the exit level TEAMS
determines whether the student will
get a diploma or not.
The LCRA Xeriscape Demonstra-
tion Program will help promote the
use of low-water-use landscaping
throughout LCRA’s 10-county statu-
tory district, which includes San
Saba, Llano, Burnet, Blanco, Travis,
Bastrop, Fayette; Colorado, Whar-
ton and Matagorda Counties.
Llano High School students are
scheduled to take the TEAMS tests
starting next Tuesday (February 9,
10) for the freshmen and February
16 and 17 for the third, fifth and
seventh grades.

The Public Utility Commission of Texas has
initiated a proceeding to consider the follow-
ing: whether any long distance telephone
company that does not provide local
telephone service has the ability to control
prices in Texas; the status of long distance
competition; and the effect of competition on
the public interest. In this proceeding AT&T
will be seeking the right to compete In Texas
on an equal basis with other long distance
companies.
February 9 will be the next
meeting date. We have a great class
planned for the afternoon. Gloria
Ramsey will be giving a class in
painting on fabric. You may come
and watch or participate. The work is
done in acrylics and Gloria will
furnish the paints necessary if you
ate not a regular acrylic painter. Do
bring your own brushes, sweatshirt
or fabric that you want to work on.
Be sure and wash the fabric before
class. If you plan to stay for the
afternoon class, bring a sack lunch.
Regular refreshments will be served
after the meeting. Our gallery will be
busy Tuesday. The hostesses for the
meeting will also be hostesses to the
Highland Lakes Art Council, which
will be holding its meeting that
afternoon also.

Special music was again provided
on January 21 by Gladys and
Harmon Ellis, who serenaded T.J.
Carnes on the occasion of his 92nd
birthday. Following the serenade, a
waltz was played and T.J. and his
