companies provide meeting facilities
and extra time for employees to
attend meetings, and many even pay
membership fees for their employ-
ees.
But there’s a reason for the club’s
popularity. Since its establishment in
1924, more than two million people
of all ages and occupations have
participated in the program.
In addition to helping membes
speak more effectively, the club is a
laboratory for developing leadership
skills. Members learn, in a po sitive,
supportive environment, how to
follow parliamentary procedure, how
to accept and delegate responsibil-
ity, and how to exercise the
fundamentals of planning and lea-
dership.
For more information, call Baber
at 915/379-6251.
On that date, Tow resident Ralph
Baber, a member of Toastmasters
for nearly 20 years, will hold an
‘organizational meeting at the Llano
Fine Arts Guild, 503 Bessemer
Street, at 7:30 p.m. A team from the
Highroller Toastmasters Club in
Austin, of which Baber and his wife
are members, will present a demon-
stration of Toastmasters procedures.
Those interested in joining the Llano
club arc invited to attend the
meeting.
“I know the value Toastmasters
has had for me in improving my
speaking ability and in giving me
more self conficence," Baber said.
“I believe that there are people in
Llano and the surrounding counties
who could benefit from our Toast-
masters program the way I have.”
Toastmasters is an international
organization consisting of more than
600 clubs boasting more than
125,000 members in 48 countries.
More than 1000 corporations and
organizations have utilized the Toas-
tmasters program. In addition, many
