Llano high school basketball boys
had one of their better weeks,
winning four of six games played, as
they wound down their basketball
season Tuesday night at Brady.
While the varsity boys suffered two
more'losses, the junior varsity and
freshmen teams won both of their
games against Marble Falls and
Early.
The following is a report of each
game ns recorded in the official
playbooks.
Marble Falls V 72, Hano 51
It was a close game through the
first half as the Marble FAlls
Mustangs took a 14-10 lead in the
first quarter, only to see the Llano
Yellow Jackets rally to cut the
Mustang lead to 28-27 at the half.
Unfortunately the Mustangs stam-
peded to a 23-13 third quarter, for a
51-40 lead which they never relin-
quished.
Roger Thurmond led Llano scoring
with 13 points, followed by Ricky
Inman and Tommy Stovall 8 each.
Tommy Bostick 7, Keith Goodson 6,
John Reitan 4, Bret Almond 3, Jeff
Kerbs and Daniel Waldrip 1 each.
Early V45,Hnno33
For three quartets, the varsity
boys had little success in getting the
ball to go through the hoop. The
Early Longhorns took an 11-8 lead in
the first quarter; 25-13 at the half
and 37-19 by the end of the third
quarter, before Llano outscored
Early 14-8. Unfortunately it was a
case of too little, too late.
BUCHANAN — Water clear, 52
degrees, normal level; black baas
slow to 2 pounds on black jigs with
blue pork; striper slow to 11 pounds
on deep divers with trailing jigs;
crappie good to 10 plus fish per
string; white bass good to 30 fish per
string on Model A; catfish fair to 4
pounds on dog food and blood bait in
20-30 feet of water.

Llano JV 50, Marble Falls 41
The Llano junior varsity allowed
the Marble Falls Mustangs a 13-10
lead in the first quarter, but then the
Yellow Jacket defense took over and
allowed only four points in the
second quarter, while Llano took
over the lead 21-17 at the half. By the
end of the third quarter, Llano had
boosted its lead to 37-30 and stayed
on the road to victory.
Leading the scoring for both teams
was Llano’s Michael Brascom with
22 points, followed by Brad Hatfield
10, Randy Reven 6, Walter Smith
and Derick Winfrey 3 each, Ed
Lawson, Simpson and Dsne Saucier

Uaao JV 47, Early 27
Llano got off to a fast start and
never let Early get much of a
recovery with leads of 11-4 at the end
of the first quarter and 17-8 at the
half. Llano had a 35-14 lead at the
end of the third quarter and Early
was able tp regain only one point in
the last quarter.

After losing two of their last four
games by a one-point margin, the
Llano Lady Jackets ended their
season on a happy note by edging
Early 46-45 to finish in third place in
District 8-AAA with a 7-5 record and
a season record of 20-6. which
included two tournament champion-
ships.
Lisno had a 19-2 season record and
was tied for first place with
Comanche when it went into a
disasterous skid which eliminated
them from the state playoffs.
Marble Falls V 74, Llano 47
Llano took an early 19-12 lead in
the first quarter in the battle for
second place in the district. The Lady
Mustangs started their rally in the
second quarter cutting Llano's lead
to 32-31 at the half. From there on, it
was no contest as Marble Falls
outscored Llano 18-6 in the third
quarter for a 49-38 lead and literally
ran away with the playoff spot in the
fourth quarter.
Top scorer for Llano was Wynona
Beesley with 21 followed by Connie
