Thursday was Mary Shipp Day at
Llano schools in honor of Mary’s
retirement after 20 years with the
school system. A progressive type
celebration with appointed times at
the different schools included lunch
at junior high, 4 p.m., Llano High
School and 5 p.m. at the home of
Chris Gould for townspeople. Mar-
tha Tyrack, Mary’s daughter, from
Temple, was here. Happy retire-
ment, Mary!
John and Ginny Beaver’s son,
Byron, from Santa Barbara was here
for several days. Ginny said she had

that sales were the greatest ever.
Many thanks for all the work by
those involved. Members agreed the
move to new qarters helped in the
overwhelming aUcceat.
The dub president is asking all
members to go over the by-laws
thoroughly so they can be changed
and updated. Those with sugges-
tions are asked to drop them by the
clubhouse, marked ’president.' We
want to have the groundwork done
on this project before the start of the
new year. Keeping the clubhouse
open has been a problem lately. If
you sign up, be sure and write down
the days and hours you are volunter-
ing, so you won’t forget. If you can’t
be present at those times, please
arrange for someone to work in your
place. If you are not able to do that,
call calendar chairman Anne Worth-
am. The clubhouse has been dosed
several times because no one has
come down to open it up, so
everyone is asked to cooperate.
Please call any club officer if unable
to call Mrs. Wortham.
The farmers’ market is getting off
to a slow start. The first day, new
potatoes, carrots, lettuce, radishes
and spinach were sold. Home
gardeners, come on out and partici-
pate.
The dub will meet for a picnic on
Wednesday, May 25, at the home of
the Wilkie’s. Bring a covered dish
and silverware. We will meet at the
clubhouse and leave at 11 a.m.
