According to Bullock, the amount
of tax paid on items bought with
coupons used to depend on the type
of coupon being redeemed.
As a result, businesses and cus-
tomers were sometimes confused
about the correct amount of tax due.
“I can’t find one good reason to tax
items at the full price if they're being
paid for with a discount coupon.
This is a simple issue that somehow
got complicated, and I hope I've
cleared it up for once and for all,”
Bullock said.
