Llano school trustees tabled a pay
hike for school teachers, administra-
tors and other school employees for
the 1968-89 school year to allow
board members additional time to
study school superintendent Dorman
Moore’s recommended pay scale.
Moore’s projected pay increase,
plus additional teachers and other
employees, called for an anticipated
1968-89 pay schedule totalling over
$3.12 million as compared to S2.91
million last year. The proposal would
be about a $328,120 increase over

on the budget.
The board asked for justification to
support a recommended personnel
increase and also asked for a new
salary schedule.
There was $5,000 set aside for a
new mapping program. Cost saving
from the FY 1988 budget could also
be considered for the project. A
consideration was also made for
either the replacement of a vehicle or
the purchase of a •third vehicle for
district use.
Commissioners Leonard Grenwelge
and Rex King will be representing
the county. District Secretary Ed
Houy asked if there were any specific
guidance by the board for the new
contract. IT was agreed that past
contracts had been satisfactory with

and set the election schedule for the
next-to-the-last Saturday in May.
The resolution concludes that if there
are more than two persons running
for one seat on the board, one
candidate must have over 50 percent
of the total vote or the top two
vote-getters would then be in a
* run-off. No seats in this May’s
election have drawn more than two
candidates for one place.
The board indicated its willingness
retail cost of the item, including the
discount.
But when a customer uses an
in-house coupon, the store should
subtract the discount from the cost of
the item before calculating the tax
due.
Stores offering double and triple
discounts on manufacturer coupons
should subtract the additional sav-
ings offered by the store, not the
manufacturer’s discount, before fig-
uring tax on the item.
Bullock said he would rather help
stores collect the correct tax than see
them do away with the coupons,
which can put substantial savings
into consumers’ pockets.
” We’ve contacted industry mem-
bers, answered their questions, and
helped clarify the rules for them.
We’ll do what it takes to solve the
problem,” Bullock said.
The board awarded bids to three
separate companies for school furni-
ture and supplies for the new
cafetorium and classrooms currently
under construction.
Suggestions for the 1988-89 school
calendar were received by the board.
They tabled action on the proposal to
allow further study of the calendar.
Originally the district had agreed
to pay $330 a month until February
1, 1989 for hardware jointly owned
by the tax office and the district
There was an additional $137 a
month for maintenance.
Most of the rest of the business
was discussions on a variety of
items. On the financial side, the
hospital registered a loss of $3,500
for the month of March, bringing the
year’s deficit to $41,500.
"Low occupancy rate of 29 percent
was the primary cause,” Alexander
said. “This $3,500 also includes the
operation of the ambulance.”
Director of Nurses Diane Gage
reported on the nursing staff. Last
month, resignations had been noted
and this month it was reported that

The Llano County Tax Appraisal
Board spent a lot of time discussing a
proposed contract to be made
between the district and the county
with specific attention concerning
the cost and payments for the new
computer which was recently in-
stalled.
The two groups had agreed to
appoint two of its members to get
together and work out an agreement
to be presented to both bodies, but

the vacancies would not be refilled
Plans were made for the staff to be
adjusted for the lower occupancy
rate with assurances there would not
be any loss in quality of service.
The commissioners court will be
advised once again of the need for
another new ambulance.
“There is a need to replace a 1973
Chevrolet ambulance as soon as
possible,” Alexander said. "We
were supposed to get a new one last
year, but the county didn’t provide
one. The need is more urgent now
and it will be put in as a budget
request.”
As to the proposed hospital
construction project, the plans have
not been returned from the Texas
Department of Health. When ap-
proved, a formal request will be
made for bids on hospital renovation.
A short executive session was
held, after which the meeting was
adjourned.
