The Hill Country Democrats’ lun-
cheon meeting was held at the Badu
House in Llano April 21 with Dan
Robison presiding. Secretary Ethel
Roberts presented a yellow rose to
Lucille O’Donnel from Burnet since
it was her 91st birthday.
Following the business meeting,
Eddie Shell introduced the speaker,
Woody Jones, Court of Appeals
Judge of the third circuit, which
covers 24 counties. The main topic of
his speech was reforms. He also
thinks there are too much politics in
Dewey and Erlene Tuckness Davis
were honored on their 50th wedding
anniversery with a celebration at the
Pontotoc Community Club recently.
Hosting the celebration were their
a children, Glowand and A.G. Kroll,
and Elmo and Judy Davis. The
Davises have six grandchildren and
seven great, grandchildren, who
were all in attendance. Also among
the guests were five of Erlene ‘s
brothers and sisters, and Dewey’s
only sister.
The groom's cake was made and
decorated by their granddaughter,
Kim Wilson of San Saba. A farm
scene of barn, hay, pens and tractors
was decorated on the cake. The
bride’s 4-tier cake was made by their
daughter-in-law, Judy Davis, also of
San Saba. It was decorated with blue
flowers. Mary Preissinger was in
charge of decorations.
Approximately 115 guests attend-
ed. Out-of-town guests were from
Houston, San Antonio, Kerrville,
Austin, Pflugerville, Belton, San
Saba, Llano, Mason, Melvin, Mullin,
Marlin, Midlothian, and the state of
Montana.
We extend get-well wishes to
Wayne Wycough, who is in the
hospital in San Antonio. Wayne will
undergo exploratory surgery Wed-
nesday.
We also extend sympathy to
Buster Bode of Mason, and Lois
Marie Young of Pontotoc, on the
death of their mother, Mrs. Mary
Lee Roberts of Austin.

The ladies of the VFD auxiliary
met at the fire station, Saturday, to
help with the "Great Texas Trash-
Off.” Some of the men and boys
joined the clean-up group, whkh
made the job much easier. The
auxiliary wishes to thank everyone
who helped to make this a successful
project.
It has been a busy time for the
Broyles family: Will broke his arm,
Jan had surgery Thursday at Scott
and White and is doing fine. Also
Thursday at Scott and White, a new
little Broyles joined the clan. Her
name is Lacy Lynn and her parents
are Andy and Susan Broyles.
A barbecue was enjoyed the
firemen and their wives and the
ladies of the auxiliary, Saturday at
the fire station. Vaughn Sanders

Leroy and Floyce Slaughter spent
the weekend in San Antonio with
their daughter and family, Mike,
Sue, Mike, Jr., and Shari Ullevig.
Saturday they attended a 50th
wedding anniversary celebration for
friends Bob and Elaine Major, held
at the Ft. Sam Houston Officers
Club.

job of chairman for the Adopt-Hiway
program. Berniece Kuykendall and
Noble Lee Smith agreed to be in
charge of the Great Texas TrashOff.
Nancy Light snd Linds Hammond
volunteered to help with the flower
beds at the fire station. The next
meeting will be May 17. Those
present were Noble Lee Smith,
Catherine Hiilsmeier, Louise Tharp,
Betty Bailey, Bernice Cavness, Jac-
kie Brigham, Pearlie Walters, Bon-
nie Johanson, Linda and Jamie
Hammond, Berniece Kuykendall,
Flora Bowden, Ruth Millican, Mar-
garet Altizer, Jennie Boultinghouse
and Floyce Slaughter.
