Surviving her are her mother.
Hertha Knandel of Cost; her hus-
band, Fred S. Horlen of Marble
Falls; a son, Joe Horlen of College
Station; a daughter, Mrs. Elaine
Smith of Ottumwa, Iowa; a brother.
Mrs. Horlen died on March 25.
She was born on October 17, 1926, at
Cost, Texas, to Ernest Knandel and
the former Hertha Behlen. She and
Fred S. Horlen were married on May
23, 1948, in Gonzales, Texas. A past
president of the VFW auxiliary, she
was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Marble Falls.

Services were held at Waldrope-
Hatfield Chapel in Kingsland on
March 27, 1988, for Evelyn Rose
Horlen, 61, of Marble Falls. The
Rev. Wayne Williams officiated.
Burial was at Marble Falls City
Cemetery.
Heart memorials have been made
recently for Margaret S. Milam,
Frieda Blakney, Baylous Spinks and
Diane Ligon.

Ranch will be hosting the annual
Invitational Livestock Judging
Contest Saturday, April 2. Regis-
tration will begin at 8 a.m. with
judging at 9 a.m. through noon.
The awards are being sponsored,
by the Llano County Farm
Bureau. More than 50 judging
• teams are expected to particpate.
The event is for 4-H and FFA
judging teams from all over
Central Texas. Judge for the
show is Dr. John Edwards, Texas
A&M Livestock Judging Coach.

Lions projects
benefit from first
Llano fish fry
Members of the Llano Evening
Lions Club expressed appreciation
for the fine support given for their
first fish fry, held at the Llano
County Community Center last Sa-
turday.
An estimated 300 meals were
served. Proceeds from the event,
which is to become an annual affair,
will be used for local and other Lion
projects.
The Llano County Special Oppor-
tunity School also held a bake sale at
the same time and sold out.
“Speaking on behalf of both
organizations, we want to thank the
people of Llano for their fine
support," the spokesman said.

Keyser, Bob Deyser, Lois Mse
Dalchau and Mary Bowman Huff-
hines.

Lennox Ligon.

A graduate of Burnet High School,
he attended John Tarleton College,
and was head resident of Thomas
Hall at Southwest Texas State
University. In 1977, he retired and
moved to Llano, where he was
involved in ranching. He and Thelma
Long were married on June 11,
1939, in Brownwood.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma,
of Llano; a son, Bill Faris of Ft.
Worth; a daughter, Mrs. Jauneva
Jamar of Fairfax, Virginia; a brother,
Tanner Faris of Cherokee, and four
grandchildren.

After the signatures have been
verified and counted the petition will
then go to the commissioners court
which will set a date for the election.
The election would be held not less
than 20 and no more than 30 from the
day it is considered by the court.
Portions of Commissioner Precinct
2 already have businesses selling
alcoholic beverages in Buchanan
Dam and Llano through earlier
justice precinct elections. This did
not include the Tow area.
Funeral services were held on
March 28, 1988, for Will “Bill-
Faris. 79, of Llano, at Waldrope-Ha-
tfield Chapel, with the Rev. Rodger
Croker officiating. Burial was at
Llano City Cemetery.
Mr. Faris was born in Burnet
County on April 30, 1908, to Vinsen
Hinds Faris and the former Kate
Tanner. He died on March 26.

Mrs. Moore was born in Plano on
February 20, 1903, to George
Loveless and the former Dora
Keyser. She and Tom J. Moore were
married in 1923. A Llano resident for
65 years, she was a member of the
Lutie Watkins Memorial United
Methodist Church.

For the second time this year a
petition requesting an election to
decide if there should be beer and
, wine sold for off-premises consump-
tion was picked up at the Llano
courthouse this past week. The
election would affect all of Commis-
sioner Precinct 2 which includes
most of the northeast portion of
Llano County.
Residents of Commissioner Pre-
cinct 3 will be holding their wet-dry
election, Saturday, April 9, to
determine if the Kingsland area will
have similar sales of alcoholic
beverages.

born on December 23, 1928, in Garza
County, Texas. A member of the
Baptist Church, he served in the
United States Army from 1955 until
1957.
