maintenance. Proposals were even
considered that would have replaced
the existing structure with an "l"
shaped pier. The young and not so
young residents that use this boat
free area for swimming and floating
appealed to the commissioners to
leave the structure as is. After much
discussion, a motion was passed to
preserve what we have for at least
two years, and in the meantime
develop the moat coat effective
means of preserving this unique
lakeside swimming area. The cost of
repair or replacement will be includ-
ed in budget discussions scheduled
to start next month. The two year
commitment to protect the structure,
and the promise to study the matter
in more detail, seemed to satisfy the
area residents.

Because of the holiday and
number of property owners expected
to be at the lake, the fire emergency
sign will not be posted unless we are
faced with an extreme fire danger
situation. That means: wind in

The Kingsland Community
Church "Tweeners” held a unique
garage sale June 25 at Barrow Hall.
The items for sale were largely
things that children and young
people would be interested in
purchasing. The church group
cleaned their own closets and
accepted donations from anyone who
was willing to help them.
The purpose of the sale was to
earn money to send eight of the
"Tweeners” to church camp.
Lenora Terrell, the adult in charge of
the sale, said the youth did the work
themselves, even handling the task
of pricing and setting up for the big
day. According to Jane Belford, a
little over $400 was raised in the
effort.
The group says: thanks to all who
brought merchandise to be sold and
to those who provided baked goods
for the bake sale.
