contribution for fiscal year 1989 —
and reminded the board they still
had an obligation to pay the last
$6,000 of the 1988 promise to the
city. She also reminded everyone
that defense of the lawsuit now
exceeded $16,000 with no end in
sight. No action was taken on the city
request. The board indicated a
desire for more time. The meetings
lasted approximately a half hour,
including questions from the audi-
ence.
Editorial Comment: There was no
doubt those attending the annual
meeting were supportive of the
elected officers, but I find the
absentees even more interesting. It
would seem that 11 people claiming
to represent 1000 property owners,
and suing the association for the
right to represent "the class," would
show some interest in an agenda that
listed, finances, budget discussion,
and by-law changes. But this is the
second year in a row that no plaintiff
has attended a publicized meeting to
find out what is happening within the
association — or even bother to
announce demands or intentions.

E. I am sorry that some of the news is passed away Sunday in the Llano
H a little late, but due to illness in my hospital, and was buried Tuesday in
fl family, I have been home but the Pontotoc cemetery.
E9, very little in the last two weeks. __________________________.
Young also explained annual
revenue from assessments histori-
cally ranges between $15,000 and
$18,000 — not the $20,000 assumed
by many members — and the
number of members not current is
little different than in the past.
When asked about those not respon-
ding to the annual billing, the board
explained that eventually the as-
sessments (and penalties for late
payment) are collected. Payment of
deed established assessments is
made when it becomes necessary to
gain clear title to property. When
asked why the delinquents were not
taken to court to force payment, the
response was one of simple econom-
ics. "Few accounts exceed several
hundred dollars, attorney fees would
not make court action profitable.”
Back on the subject of finances.
Young asked for any comment on the
city letter suggesting a $16,000
