The livestock judging team of
Texas A&M University, College
Station ended up third in competition
at the 88th annual American Royal
Intercollegiate Livestock Judging
Contest held in Kansas City, Mis-
souri, Saturday, November 5.
Funeral services for Ethel Imo-
gene Hardin were held at Waldrope-
Hatfield Funeral Chapel in Llano
November 14. 1988, with the Rev.
John Gibbs officiating. Burial fol-
lowed in Llano City Cemtery.
The Llano High School FFA Quiz
Team has won first place in district
competition and will now advance to
the area contest, according to FFA
counselor Lynn Mosier.
Members of the team include Casey
Mosier, Bart Larremore, Conrad
Osbourn and Cody Don ware.
The team travels to Southwest
Texas State in San Marcos, Satur-
day, to compete in the area contest.

senting major colleges and universi-
ties from across the United States
competed in the judging of cattie,
hogs and sheep at the American
Royal. The contest is designed not
only to test the ability to judge
livestock, but also to help students
give logical reasons for their plac-
ings.
Texas A&M had a total of 4,587
points out of a possible 5,000 and
placed third in beef and fourth in

Charles O. Ford, 82, of Riverside,
California, died November 9, 1988.
in Chino, California. A Texas native.
Ford had lived in Riverside for six
. years, having been a Llano resident
prior to that time.
He is survived by one daughter,
Dorothy Leach of Riverside; one
sister, Corene Lenzini of Illinois; a
brother, Sebe Nichols of Texas; four
grandchildren, 12 great grandchil-
dren and one great, great grand-
child.
Graveside services were held No-
vember 14 at Westminster Memorial
Park, Westminster, California.
Draper and Root Funeral Home of
Ontario, California, was in charge.

Mrs. Hardin, the widow of Jasper
J. Hardin, died November 12 in
Austin. She was born September 22,
1903. in Miller Creek, Blanco
County. The daughter of John W.
Polvado and the former Mary
Tucker, she was a Methodist.
Surviving are a cousin. Mrs. La Nell
Minis, Llano; a brother, W.L. (Tode)

November 25. Santa’s Big Night in
Llano, it was decided during the
regular monthly meeting of the
Merchants’ Association meeting
held Tuesday morning.
The group discussed sponsoring
Santa Claus Saturdays during De-
cember. They also recommended
that individual businesses be re-
sponsible for decorating their display
windows for the holiday aeaaon.
