there was nothing where Nixon now
stands. Today it is the best town be-
tween San Antonio and Cuero. Every
day sees new buildings going up. Our
Church is keeping pace with the town.
Since coming here.last November we
have built a parsonage, finished the
church, and by conference will have
paid a large church debt. We have also
received seventy-two members. To God
be all the praise.

PROHIBITION IN NIXON.
On Tuesday, Aug. 3, we closed a hot
prohibition campaign by a majority of
only three. The antis felt sure of vic-
tory, and when the results were known
their wrath knew no bounds. But the
saloons are closed. I hear they are
going to contest the election. ’Twill
only mean a greater majority against
them. We are in the dry column to
stay. Rev. J. D. Odom, of Dallas, was
with us in the campaign, and great help
he is. He is the right man in the right
place. Had it not been for him the
antis would surely have won. He met
in joint debate the famous Judge R. H
Ward, of San Antonio, and annihilated
him. It was the most one-sided de-
bate I ever heard. Odom made many
converts. Ward left in disgrace. After
tue debate I heard many remarks like
this: “I’ll bet Ward would go around
three city blocks to keep from meeting
him.’ “He just chawed him up.” Odom
will forever be a great man at Nixon.
Rev. J. C. Wilson, of Del Rio, was with
us in a revival meeting during the
campaign and did some valuable serv-
ice. He is an orator, a poet and a Dhi-
losopher. He is also one of the most
