Did you know? The law of the
State of Texas provides that a
person is guilty of a misdemeanor if
he willfully refuses to relinquish a
party line immediately after being
informed the line is needed for an
emergency call to a fire or police
department, or for medical or
ambulance service. The law also
provides that it is a misdemeanor to
secure the use of a party line by
falsely stating the line is needed for
an emergency. An “emergency” is
defined by law as “a situation in
which property or human life is in '
jeopardy and that the prompt
summoning of aid is essential.”
