PUTTING IT ON THE SULTAN.
Berlin May 29. —All the powers excepting
France have agreed in the event of interven-
tion in Egypt becoming necessary for the
maintenance of the status quo it shall be made
by the sultan.
PAPER BAG FACTORY BURNED.
Fredricksburg May 27. —J. H. Dunston’s
paper bag manufactory and steam printing
house with all the stock on hand presses and
machinery were destroyed last night. The
Catholic church adjoining sustained slight
damage and the parsonage was burned to the
ground. An iron safe was overturned on
Henry Beam breaking his legs. Loss $15-
000.
MINES DENOUNCED —GAMBLERS MULCHED—
Laredo May 29. —Messrs. A. Joseph P.
Floyd and B. Cahn of this city have denoun-
ced several mines in Mexico. They say that
the assay is 157 ounces of silver and 1000
pounds of lead to the ton. These mines are
said to have been worked by the Spaniards in
1796. Mr Joseph goes to New York to raise
a stock company to work the mines.
The county attorney is again going for gam-
blers. Twenty-one in number were before
Justice Pye this morning making a desperate
tight but the jury found them guilty.
BUSINESS INSTITUTIONS—SENT UP —DIGGER’S
FATE.
Dallas May 29. —The merchants’grain and
produce exchange will be formally opened at
the rooms of the board of trade on June Ist.
An agent of the penitentiary lessees who
passed through to-day with a batch of prison-
ers says E. Hall Gullett one of the Ranger
train robbers has been sent from Eastland for
five years.
A private telegram from Washington says
J. C. Bigger nominated for United States mar-
shall from this district who is now at the capi-
tal seeking confirmation will most assuredly
be reported upon adversely by the senate judi-
ciary committee.
FRANK JAMES TO SURRENDER.
St. Louis May 29. —The Post-Dispatch
publishes a statement showing that Governor
Crittenden has been in negotiation with Frank
James for the past ten days for his surrender
and that the noted outlaw will be pardoned
within a week.
LUTHERANS IN ASSEMBLY.
Charlotte May 29. —The southern general
synod of the Lutheran church is in
here. During to-day’s deliberations it was de-
cided to send and support a missionary in In-
dia and Japan.
LIBEL CHARGES SUSTAINED.
Philadelphia May 29. —Judge Thayer in
quarter session this morning sustained the in-
dictment charging Julian Chambers Philadel-
phia correspondent of the New York Herald
and Charles W. Smith editor-in-chief of the
Press with libel upon Detective Weyle. In
the case of Mr. Chambers the decision is writ-
ten.
CARDINAL ENTHRONED.
Dublin May 28.—Archbishop McCabe was
enthroned cardinal with imposing ceremonies
at the Catholic cathedral to-day.
BONDS ISSURED AND FRATERNAL FEELINGS
ENGENDERED IN THE PRESBYTERIAN AS-
SEMBLY.
Atlanta Ga. May 29. —In the Presbyterian
general assembly yesterday an issue of forty
thousand dollars of bonds was authorized to
re-establish the publishing house of the de-
nomination. Further communications were
received from the Springfield assembly which
satisfied the scruples of members after which
fraternal messages were exchanged and frater-
nal messengers duly appointed.
Description of American House Property
The American House owned by Mrs. E.
Barr is situated in the town of Boerne Texas
famous as a health resort. The hotel is built
on two lots fronting on the public square with
the Cibolo river on one side being about three
acr es of land. The hotel is a new frame two
stories twenty rooms galleries all aronnd up
and down stairs —over 600 feet of promenade.
Two wells of permanent water one cistern
splendid garden fine peach orchard pear and
quince trees fine grape arbors all in full
bearing. A good rock stable. The house is
well furnished with new furniture. This valu-

in advance their thanks for the ready support
they have enjoyed so far and hohe to enjoy
hereafter from the citizens of San Antonio.
