D. 1575. the Agricultural Stoekraising ami In-
dustrial Assoeiat ion of Western Texas a cor-
poration duly meorpornted under the laws of
the State of Texas and located in tile county
of Bexar and State of Texas acting by and
through its duly qualilicd ollicers made exe-
cuted and delivered unto Edward Steves of
the same slate and county its certain promis-
ory note of that date due in one year thereaf-
ter for t wenty-tiv e hundred (#2.5(10) silx er dol-
lars with 12 per cent interest per annum
thereon from mite and 2 per cent interest for
penalty ami ail reasonable attorney lees lor
collection if not paid at maturity.
And tile better hi secure tile payment of the
aforesaid note the said corporation acting as
aforesaid on the 14th day ot November A. It.
15.7 did make execute and deliver unto W. A.
Bennett trustee for Edward Steves bene-
ficiary its certain deed of trust which is duly
recorded in the registry of Bexar county. Texas
in book volume No 3 on pages4l.l UH. hound

Bennett trustee as aforesaid the following
described land situated in the county of Bexar
and Slate of Texas better known and described
as Ilie "Knee Track” about txvo miles south of
the Main plaza of the city of San Antonio.
Beginning on the west side of the Corpus
Christi road about one-half of a mile below or
souihol the lowerin' Elores street crossing ol
the San Pedro creek twenty varas west of the
south-west corner of an enclosed field former-
ly occupied by Martin Campbell and after-
wards occupied by B. V. Teel and wife at a
stone set fortlie southeast corner of this sur-
vey. Thence N. 6 - W. along the west line ol
said Corpus Christi road fixe hundred varas to
a stone set lor the N E. corner of this survey:
thence west 1630 varus to a stone sei on the east
line of the city tract; thence south 37 l B>- W.
tsitl varas to a stone on tlie east line of the city
tract as above mentioned for the S. W.corner
of this survey; thence 2110 varas east to the
place of beginning; containing one hundred
and seventy-live mid one-half (E5 l 2i ax res ol
land.
Also fifteen acres of land beginning at a
stone set outlie north line of the above des-
cribed tract xliras wi st of the N. E cor-
ner of said tract 75 varas from the Jockey Club
race course; thence west with the north line of
said tract- to a stone set on said line 10 feet
from theouter line or circle of said racecourse;
t lienee around the north end of said race course
to a stake set (no varas north 220 W. of the be-
ginning <>l t his fifteen acre tract so as to in-
clude a strip Io feet wide and outsidemid
around said race course; thence east 75 varas;
I lienee south 22- E. to the N. line of the first
tract hereby comeyed as the beginning cor-
ner of this last described tract.
And also a right-of-way 25 varas wide to the
San Pedro creek off of tin' north portion ol
said held occupied by said Campbell and said
Teel and wife as aforesaidsituated on the east
side ot the Corpus Christi road; said right-of-
way commences at the N. W. corner of said
Held thence south with said Corpus Christi
road 25 v aras tlienee on a parallel line wil li the
north line of said field to said San Pedroereek.
Reference is hereby made to a deed f rom the
“San Antonio Jockey Club” to this Associa-
tion recorded in volume No I on pages 236
mid 237 records of Bexar county fora hfll and
complete description of tin- property here con-
V eyed.
And whereas on the 12th day of November
A. D LsSO the said note mid said deed of t rust
aforesaid were both renewed by an instru-
ment of writing made by- said corporation
which renewal isduiy recorded in the registry
of Bexar county .Texas in book volume No. IS
on pages Nos. 94 and 95.
And whereas the said Trustee. W. A Ben-
net is dead and the said Edward Steves bench
< iary ami the present owner and holder of said
note did by an instrument in writing duly ap-

as a substitute trustee in place ot the said W.
A. Bennett deceased
And whereas said notewith tile accumulated
interest thereon is st ill wholly due aud un-

dred and titty stalls mid sheds lor stock Ate.
The said deed of trust stipulates that after the
sale the trustee shall make execute and de-
li x er to t he purchaser in the name of said asso-
ciation a good and .sullieient fee simple war-
ranty deed of the premises.
Attention is called to the deed from the benc-
ticiary Edward Steves and the said association
to Waelder A Epson recorded in book volume
in on pages 279 and 2so of the recot ds of Bexar
county and the quit claim deed witli mapat-
t.i. hed from Waelder A Epson to the sai l as-
sociation recorded in the records ol Bexar
county in book volume No. 2u. on pages h>2.

tor Gen C. C. Augur has tiled her complaint and peti
tion against the herein after described lands and
tenements situated in the County of Bexar and City
of San Antonio in the Honorable District court of
said Bexar county Texas and in her said complaint
and petition has prayed fora decree vesting the ti-
tle in the said lands in the United States of America
which lands are described as viz: About
19 29 —too acres of land more or less situated in the
state of Texas and county of Bexar and in the
North Eastern portion of the city of San Antonio de
Bexar and parts of San Antonio city lots Nos. one
(1) ami txvo (2) in District No (1) range four (4)
and contiguous to lands now owned by the United
States of America and occupied by her and more
definitely described by metes and bounds as follows
viz;
Beginning at a stone marked “U. S.” set for cor-
ner from which an elm 15 inches in diameter bears
north twenty one degrees (zi 5 ) west distant 202 14-
100 varas; and the lightning rod on tower of de-
pot building bears south eighty-six and one third
iB6fj degrees east and the north west corner of
said building eighty two and seven-eighths (82 7—B)
degrees east which said stone and corner aforesaid i-.
situated seven hundred and live and one third (705!)
varas east with a variation of nine degrees 30 min-
utes east (9° 30) from a square cut stone marked
“U. S.;” said stone being set on line three
and three quarters varas east from
Alamo ditch; the said point so determined on
said Alamo ditch being the initial and begining cor-
ner of 93 79 —100 acres of land more or less in Dis-
tricts one (1) and two (2) in north eastern portion of
the said city of San Antonio and county of Bexar
and State ot Texas granted by the said city of San
Antonio Texas acting by aud through his honor
Janies 11. French mayor thereof on 30th day of June
A I). 1878 to the United Slates of America by deed
recorded in vol (it)eleven pages ryoanil 151 land
records of Bexar county the corner thus described
being tile northwest corner of the tract herein de-
scribed.

variation of nine degrees thirty minutes (o’ 30’)
east; live hundi cd and nineteen varas (519) to a stone
marked “U. S.” for corner. From which the
northwest corner of the depot building bear-
north twenty-seven degrees 27°) and ten (10)
minutes east distant seventy-nine(79) varas and the
-.outhwest corner of same building bears south four-
teen and one hall ( eastdistant one hundred
ami fifty eight and one halt varas <158%). Thence
south one hundred and ninety wo varas (192) to a
.tone marked “C . S.” for corner; from wldch the
southwest coiner of depot building bears north
45 0 east distant 53 x.xras and the southeast
corner of the same building bears north

property two bundled and ten varas to the place ot
begir ning.
These are therefore to command you to summon
all pei sous interested in the above described land
ami tenements by publishing this writ tor eight suc-
cessive weeks in some newspaper published in tin
county of Bexar and state ol Texas to be anil appeal
before the honorable district court of Bexar county.
Texas to be holden at the court-house in the said
county of Bexar and city of San Antonio on the rst
Monday in Marell A. I). 1883 then and there to an-
wer this-aid petition and complaint of the United
States of America ami then aud there to show cause
il any they have why the said complaint should not
be granted according to the act of congress ol the I
S.. of date of April 16 1880 and of 30th of J une A. I).
1.882 and in accordance with the law sof the state of
Texas provided in such cases for the purpose of ac-
quiring sites ami erecting theron -uch military post-
-111 the -late of Texas as may be deemed necessary by
the Secretary of War for tile adequate protection
of the Rio Grande frontier.
Herein fail of this writ make due return
showing how yoßtave executed the same.
